It was only a little over 100 years ago that you could get yourself boiled in oil for even thiking about another religion. It has gone down considerably since then, but christians have never been good with intelligence and facts.

I think it may possibly have something to do with the centuries of killing, robbing, threatening, intimidating, bribing, and other methods of spreading the "good news" they did in order to get in a position of power.

Did I mention all the killing?

It makes no logical sense at all. Perhaps it is a self-perpetuating mania. It makes no more sense than old superstitions.
