Frontline Plus (which is what most Veterinary offices use now) kills adult fleas, flea eggs, and larvae. The problem is, only the ADULTS live on the animal, the eggs and larvae live in the surrounding environment (like your carpet, etc.), so you also have to use something to help take care of those fleas. The fleas in the eggs can lay dormant for months, so one treatment might not be enough. They will also hatch from the vibrations of people walking, and from the carbon dioxide that we breathe out. Having your cat on flea and tick preventative year-round is the best idea.
Flea eggs are generally white in color, but they are extremely hard to see, especially since they are in the environment. What you are seeing on the cat is called “flea dirt,” a collection of dried blood and flea poop. If you take a tissue and get it damp, then rub over the “dirt,” you can see that it’s a slight bloody color. There isn’t anything major to worry about, though – fleas bite and suck. (In more ways than one!)
Good luck!

Flea eggs are usually black or white like rice. If they're black, they can look almost like dirt on a dog. According to Frontline's website, their flea medicine kills all the stages of Fleas including eggs.

it will look like pepper sprinkled around. If your cat has what looks like dirt on her..they call that flea dirt and if she has fleas..then definately..you have flea eggs somewhere if not..everywhere. Frontline and Advantage will kill off anything alive..but since you most likely have eggs everwhere..you will need to sprinkle Borax and leave for aprox 24 hours to kill off the eggs and any live fleas in your house. If any jump on your cat and bite her..with the advantage or frontline..those will die off but you will still have them in your house if you don't get rid of the eggs. Use the Borax like you would carpet fresh..sprinkle under the cushions of your couch also and you can actually leave that there for longer than the rest of the house since it will be hidden and no one will see it anyway since I do hope your guests aren't ones to look under your sofa cushions..if they are...tell them to leave. To be sure you've killed off all of your fleas down the line..put a white sheet of paper on the floor with a small flat white dish of a little bit of clear liquid dish soap in it and a light pointing on the set up at night in a dark room. If you still have any fleas in the house..they will be in the soap a few hours later..drowning of course. Fleas are attracted to white and light. You could also take the dangerous route and put on a completely white outfit and see if they attack you!

It depends. If they've laid them, they'll be brown but if you pop the flea and the eggs come out, they're white. One of the greatest feelings is to pop a flea and get a big cluster of eggs. I also like to pop the eggs like tiny bubble wrap. I know it seems disgusting to some people but I like to make sure those revolting parasites are dead.

If you are seeing little white things that resemble grains of rice, they are tapeworm segments.
