What happened to "Thou shalt not kill?" Where were all the good, loud-mouth Christian leaders opposing war and killing? How can anyone look to "Christians" as sources of moral authority, or as anything but contemptible, ignorant, bigoted hypocrites?

For whatever reason fundamentalists Christians zealously support the Republican party and think it to be the party of God and therefore think that God is on Bush's side and is using Bush to make decisions. Iraq to them is a holy endeavor.
Not all Christians are fundamentalists and not all Christians support the GOP.
I myself am Christian and a Moderate Liberal.
The leaders are being drowned out by the right-wing fundamentalists' rhetoric.

I no longer look at so-called 'Christian' leaders as 'sources of moral authority.' In fact, I question what moral authority means anyway. I read the bible. I talk to and have discussions with the God within me. The more I read in the bible the more I become convinced that its contents are no more than myths. I know there is good and I know there is evil. In fact the bible speaks openly of both behaviors. But the bible is contradictory. It speaks of kings and queens and adulterers and fathers having sex with daughters and sons having sex with mothers and in reality it seems very focused on sexual behavior even moreso than murder. I question this book. This bible. The more I read it the less I accept it. The Iraq war is no less than one of the greatest evils in history. I don't necessarily tie this war however, with gay marriage. If there is a God, He has certainly allowed gay people to be born throughout this world. If gay marriage is condemned in the bible, why are there so many gay people. If God is all loving and all powerful, why would HE allow these people to continue to propogate this world?

You confuse bigots with Christians. There are literally millions of religious people who are bigots, but they often seem to be Christians. You must learn to tell the difference, otherwise you will always be confused.
No Christian (real) should condemn the right thing to do-even when it is the last thing you want.
BTW 'thou shalt not kill" is a miss-translation. It is 'thou shalt not murder'. There is a vast difference.

Christian extremists approve of the extermination of non-Christians, that's why. True Christians would oppose war and slaughter.

True Christians also have no problem with gay marriages believing that they themselves are not the ones to judge others.

They are out there....But unfortunately there obviously isn't enough christians out there that are willing to stand up and speak out against it for reasons unknown to me. then again no one really listens to christians anymore because of all the fakes who are just hiding behind the word "Christian" like all this priests who we hear about molesting little boys, and that preacher who was with that cross dressing male prostitute. you can hardly blame anyone for thinking christians are no better than anyone else out there because of people like that. and it turns people away from God, because what they don't realize is that is not what TRUE christians are....those people they hear about on the news ARE the hypocrites.

Good question! There is Christian's on this earth who do live to the moral code God Himself set, or to the best of their love for Jesus. The more you love Jesus the less you will sin. Every man is a sinner, the only non-sinner to walk this earth was Jesus Christ. The excuse that I'm a struggling sinner, to allow sin in your life is not acceptable. A true Christian will get his or her sin's down to a spontaneous level, Ie. sin that is not premeditated. Jesus said in Matthew chapter 22, verses 37- 39: " Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second greatest command is like it: "love your neighbor as your self." We do need to protect ourselves and the country of Israel, and I know this sermon does not entirely answer your question. This war should have been avoided, or at least we should of held off until military action was absolutely necessary to protect the U.S. and our allies. In closing let me say this: do not judge the God of Israel to the Christians around you, tune your life to Jesus Christ and no one else, by doing this you will be found Righteous in the eyes of God.

because the bible says for a man to know right and not do it, for him it is sin. if thousands of people are being slaughtered and you have the power to stop it, but do nothing you have sinned.
in the bible in genesis, it says muliply and fill the earth, also some of the commandments he gave to the hebrews say" dont lay with another man the way you would with a woman, for this is wrong in the eyes of the lord your god".

I fail to see the connection.
Christians are not the source of moral authority.
God is.

Thank you for the sweeping generalization.
Talk about bigots......

Because they thought Jesus Bush would Christianize the middle east for them. Christians don't really care about gays. They care about power, money and ensuring their dominion.
