I noticed yesterday that a few of my cat's teeth have what looks like bloodstains on them. If her gums have been bleeding, is this likely to be an infection? Or what else could it be? And what causes it?

My cat has had severe gingivitus since she was a kitten - the vet can't seem to get it cleared up. And occasionally the gums bleed after she eats dry food. But most likely you are seeing a tartar buildup if the teeth look like they have reddish or brownish streaks down the teeth. Tartar control treats of dry food can help with this, but best bet is to visit your vet and let him or her have a look. Better to play it safe with your cat's health.

Just like if it happens to human teeth. Infection or something wrong with the gum. The vet would be able to tell you more. or she could have been eating something too hard for her teeth so it gives too much pressure for the gum and therefore it bleeds.
Check what she eats and call the vet, whatever it is, you can't deal with it alone.

gingivitus is common in older cats and this inflammation of the gums causes them to bleed. Your cat needs a dental cleaning to clear this up.

Cats are most active at night, so it probably killed something you didn't know about, because you were sleeping.

She's a vampire?

Does she go out? She could have killed some small creature and not cleaned her teeth?
