Atheists are without hope, for some strange reason they are determined to convince us all (with an evangelistic fervour) that there is nothing after death. But even if they are right they will never know it, and nor will we. However, they sure will know it if they are wrong.
So Christians, that atheists are so fond of ridiculing, at least have the consolation of knowing they will be able to have the last word on the subject.
So instead of atheists writing endlessly on the subject on yahoo, all to no avail, let's have the discussion after death.

How can anyone have a positive attitude about such a no-hope philosophy as atheism?

I do not suppose they expect to get the last word.
Though it DOES seem a rather hope-less philosophy, I agree.
Maybe there would be less of them if Christians who claim to believe in a Redeemer, behaved somewhat more redeemed.

PS. Definition of an atheist:- A person with no invisible means of support.

Why are you so small minded and misguided to believe atheists do not possess hope? Because we don't believe in your god? Hope takes many forms and is expressed in many ways, least of which is the belief in some fairie tale god who will 'save' you after death. This morbid fear christians have about death is archaic and sick. Death is inevitable and natural and is nothing to fear. This I think gives atheists the greatest sense of hope because since we not fear death it makes every day we are alive that much more special and hopeful. Believe all you want, pray all you want if it makes you feel good but in the end we'll both end up in the same place.....decomposing in the ground, our energy being returned to the earth from where it came.

Aethiests have enough positive attitude not to think that life on earth is so horrible that there must be something better after all. Anyhow, you religious people should be more forgiving than wanting the last laugh.

Your assuming that all atheists are hopeless and have no philosophy. That is wrong. Alot of atheists use logic and reason rather than blind and mindless faith to make decisions. I do not know what awaits me after I die, but a big golden gate in clouds (which have no real mass) seems unlickely.

Personally, I find the concept of an eternity worshipping a god who sentences souls to eternal torment quite disgusting.

If heaven is perfect (without violence, disease, suffering, etc), then how can there be any free will in heaven? Christianity is the main religion claiming that all these derive from free will.

You look forward to living forever without free will?

Also, think on this: who values this life more? The person who believes this life is the only life, or the person who sees this life as just the training ground for another, eternal life?

Christians have the dubious consolation of knowing that the life they lived was squandered because they chose to immerse themselves in meaningless theological dogma. They ignored "the one thing needful" which was to show unconditional tolerance for their fellow man.

That postitivity really shines through in your question.

Atheists are not without hope, they are without belief. Perhaps for you, belief in God = hope. Personally, I am satisfied with the life that I have been given. I don't hope for anything beyond that, isn't this one life enough? Isn't it amazing enough just to be here? Apparently, for some, it is not.

Listen if there is something after we die what makes you think that its got anything to do with god or jesus . Come one love with an argument like that youre just showing yourself to be a little on the dumb side .

it doesn't mean there's no hope just because you don't believe that there is nothing after death... it just means you should make the most of life cause it's the only chance you get...
but if there is only oblivion, how do christians expect to get the last word?

Yep, that's the thing that sucks about not believing in an afterlife - you don't get to rub anyone's face in the fact that you were right.

There's no evidence you get another shot at life - make the most of this one. Enjoy it and try to help others do the same.
