There are a handful of denominations that strongly condemn alcohol. I know, I was raised in one that also condemned tobacco.

But, my question is, why not trans-fats? That stuff will kill you. Moderate alcohol consumption is actually good for you, but there's no amount of hydrogenated oils that's healthy!

Why isn't partially hydrogenated corn oil a mocker too?

Most Christian denominations are ok with alcohol in moderation, the Bible speaks of drinking in a good way, but not drunkeness. The Church I attend has ashtrays outside the doors, they dont condemn smoking either but, I think people spend too much time worrying about smoking when so much more is more deadly much more quickly.... like driving for example. I wish they would condemn it all or accept it all

That is a difficult question to answer since not all Christians believe the same thing. Some do not condemn alcohol at all.

Perhaps the reason is that alcohol affects the mind. This causes lowered inhibitions and poor judgement. It also impairs one's reactions which results in a greater probability of injuring someone in a car accident.

How many car accidents are caused by trans-fats?

Heck, I do. I'm also a serious weighlifter (Not as much on the aerobics as heaving lifting, bodybuilding). My religious beliefs are that the Bible teaches: Drinking alcohol is fine if done with extreme moderation, and it condemns anything that may "contaminate the flesh" such as drugs and smoking.

"Therefore, since we have these promises, beloved ones, let us cleanse ourselves of every defilement of flesh . . ." - 2 Corinthians 7:1

"He is making green grass sprout for the beasts, And vegetation for the service of mankind, To cause food to go forth from the earth, And wine that makes the heart of mortal man rejoice" - Psalms 104:15

"Who has woe? Who has uneasiness? Who has contentions? Who has concern? Who has wounds for no reason? Who has dullness of eyes? Those staying a long time with the wine" - Proverbs 23:29,30

"Do not drink water any longer, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness." - 1 Timothy 5:23 (Which Doctors agree with, but as the rest of the Bible teaches, in moderation. Paul said: A little. Proverbs says: Those who stay "a long time")

But transfats? Good lord. Now that we are aware of what they do to the body? I avoid them as I do cigarettes (Used to smoke too, so sometimes it is a bit tempting). As I said, I'm a weighlifter. And the other fats are actually GOOD fats, that you absolutely have to have in moderation, and a well balanced diet.

I think you have the Christian faith confused with some cult. The Bible does not condem alcohol, tobacco, or trans-fats. The Bible does talk about not doing things to excess like getting drunk, but even Jesus drank wine.

Christianity is all about people who want to be like Christ and Christ was sinless. The Old Testament is a history book. Everything changed when Jesus Christ came to earth and died upon the cross for our sins. The two commandments in the New Testament are how we should live our lives today. The promise is that if we confess that we are sinners to God and that we believe with all our hearts that Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, that God will make a place for us next to Him in Heaven and that we will live there for eternity.

God Bless!

Well I'm not going to make a sweeping generalisation about Christians, because I know not all Christians have a problem with alcohol.

But as for why some do - well, I am just going to point up one thing...

...trans-fats are less FUN than booze.

I asked a similar question to my very fat in-laws, when they graced us with their presence after my children were born. My husband is a disfellowshiped Jehova's witness, he was disfellowshiped because he smokes tobacco.
I pointed to research indicating being so fat is less healthy than smoking and trans fats in particular were dangerous. I got a glazed over look from them and a warning that Jehovah was going to close the door on me.

What a great point! It shows the inconsistency of the Bible and the Christian message. If not alcohol, why didn't God tell us about tobacco, high fat diets, lead-lined aqueducts, mercury, etc.? Why doesn't he tell us when earthquakes and tsunamis are coming? I could go on and on.

at the start, say gays, its extra convenient to place in writing and makes you look extra personable you recognize why? as a results of fact the existence of LGBT discredits Genesis as a literal record. Then the trend and excuses from anti-naturalists comes out. in case you basically would desire to assert you "hate their existence-sort", St T., you do in actuality hate them in my opinion, you're basically not completely trouble-free approximately it. it somewhat is irrational because it somewhat is senseless.

People who are self-loathing display their pain in a variety of ways, from denying themselves something wanted or needed (nuns, monks, priests) to slowly eating themselves to death (the majority of Americans).

Please show me that book/chapter/verse where alcohol is condemned? Drunkenness is the word you are looking for, and drunkenness is to be avoided like any other excess.
