The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) was enacted by Congress in response to the large and rapidly growing illegal alien population in the United States. The final bill was the result of a dramatic compromise between those who wanted to reduce illegal immigration into the United States and those who wanted to "wipe the slate clean" for those illegals already living here by granting them legal residence. As enacted, IRCA included a massive amnesty program for two main categories of illegal aliens: 1) those who could show that they had resided illegally in the United States continuously since at least January 1, 1982; and 2) those who had worked as agricultural workers for at least 90 days between May 1, 1985 and May 1, 1986. As a "balance" to this huge amnesty, IRCA also included several provisions designed to strengthen the enforcement of immigration laws, including sanctions for employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens, increased border controls, and a program to verify the immigration status of aliens applying for certain welfare benefits.
After this "amnesty" was granted, within 5 years we has double the number of illegal aliens in the US than before amnesty was granted.
This is what will happen again.Nothing will be solved. The now legal people will be competing with the new illegal aliens for the jobs avaiable. And then we are right back to square one arent we.
I dont think either of the groups are "smarter " than the other. But the anti illegals are not confused with feelings and emotion as perhaps some of the pros are.And then you have nuts like Proud American that shames us all.

Yes We Can't

Here's how President Bush and the republican establishment see it: African-Americans make up 13% of the population, and Hispanic-Americans are at 14%.
Doing the math, that is a big number to cede to the democrats every four years. Forget about converting most blacks--the GOP has no clue. But there are millions of conservative Hispanics, and this amnesty's for you.
Mr. Bush's new proposal to allow about ten million illegal aliens to work and live in the USA is a calculated political move. He is betting that his supporters, many of whom will not like the quasi-amnesty, will vote for him anyway, especially if Howard Dean is his opponent.
And by showing compassion to millions of Hispanic illegals, the President hopes to win some hearts and minds and, most importantly, votes.
The question is: Will the new program help America? The answer is no. That's because Mr. Bush has proposed a situation that is all carrot cake and no stick. Once the poor of the world realize that anyone who sneaks into America illegally can get the benefits of living in this country, the flood gates, which are already open, will crack completely.
Remember, the immigration mess we have now started after Ronald Reagan granted amnesty to illegals in 1986. Since that time, tens of millions of undocumented people have found a way to the USA, hoping for exactly what Mr. Bush has now given them. Why wouldn't millions more follow that lead?
I actually support the President's program, if he would get serious about supervising the borders and prosecuting companies who continue to hire illegals after the amnesty kicks in. The Border Patrol flat out admits it cannot stop the flood of people and narcotics coming from Mexico.
So why not have the National Guard assist the Border Patrol? The President could make that happen, but will not. He also has no plan to crack down on employers who continue to break the rules. Mr. Bush has a "yes, we can't" attitude when it comes to imposing discipline on the illegal problem.
Finally, it is a pipe dream to think that allowing millions of poorly educated people to assimilate into the USA will not be without unintended consequences. Under the program, millions of illegals will be bringing family members here, and their period of adjustment will not be easy.
Right now, 34% of all LEGAL Mexican immigrants are on welfare, and 25% of illegals are getting government assistance. That number will not decline, as some illegals will make it and some will not.
So get set for massive new human smuggling operations as the world's gangsters see gold at the end of the illegal immigration rainbow. Billions of people the world over would love to come to America. President Bush has not solved the immigration problem, and may have made it much worse. Ten years from today this country will be a much different place. Count on it.

Pro-amnesty isn't looking long term or even taking responsibility for what's going on now, and how it effects the rest of America beyond their own group. They have exagerated their importance, and continue to push the victim role while ignoring the fact that they have broken laws and abused the system and left a trail of destruction that far outweighs any contribution they may have made.
Anti-amnesty knows full well that without enforcement amnesty does not work. The government made laws to enforce so we wouldn't be where we are today after the last amnesty and they didn't do their job. Our faith and trust in them is gone because they refuse to even enforce basic laws or protect citizens from the results of this massive lawlessness. Maybe we've been around long enough to learn cause and effect and been down many of these roads that they are trying to go over again. Doesn't take a brain child to know it burns when you stick your hand in fire. Doesn't take that many times of trying, to realize the outcome is still the same no matter how many different ways you approach it. You can call fire any name you want. You can re-name a burn to be anything you want and it still doesn't change things. Calling me a woos because I cry if it hurts or if I don't want to stick my hand in it again to PROOVE once again to another group of people, doesn't make me bad or wrong or close minded or not spiritually developed. Been there done that. Don't need to do it again. Last time it was a bon-fire and this time it's a towering inferno and if they are stupid enough to jump in....so be it. But don't blame me when the outcome isn't rainbows and lollypops coz I'm just warning you. Listen or don't.

I think they may be. Mainly because the folks that want amnesty want it cuz they have girlfriend or and uncle or whatever to be here. Or they may be just plain old and simply trying to take over and have the feeling, they as a subgroup need larg numbers to be able to overwhelm the offsetting side.
The real heavy hitters for pro amnesty are not on this sight. They are the CEO's that need the cheap labor. They are they ones who will pay our gov to have their way. They are the one's that will make this happen. Senioriata Lupe won't have thing to say about it for her illegal uncle JOse.
In answer to your question two things: On this sight, many anti's seem far briter in my humble opinion. There are radical exceptions to this however. Racist sorts and so on. There ARE some pro people who seem to have a clue. Most do not on the pro side.
That's my sense of it.

NO! and you probably did not even examine the flyer!. whilst we are dealing with the worst financial disaster as a results of fact the large melancholy, our government is handing funds to bankers at homestead and pouring our tax money -- 1000 billion-plus and counting -- into distant places wars that homicide, maim and violate human beings's ideal to return to a determination their own destiny. the actuality is that there isn't any "sturdy" war – in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan or Iran. Our hands to Israel make their war OUR war, besides. many years of U.S. rules have imposed unequal commerce agreements on immigrants' homestead worldwide places that smash community economies -- forcing human beings to go right here to seek for the living wages they are able to not earn at homestead. the hot administration has endured Bush regime coverage in direction of immigrant workers, and is utilising the financial meltdown as a device to recruit extra immigrant, minority, and poor youthful human beings to combat wealthy adult men's wars for oil and ability.

The anti-amnesty folks are day dreamers. Their best idea is to gather all the immigrants and to send them back. If that is not a day dream, I guess I've spent too much time on here and have lost the capacity to reason. Most of them also like to cry about how their education is being stolen, or how they can't recieve welfare because it is being given to the illegals. Some also blame illegals for buying houses when they can't. Or having jobs when they can't hold one.
The bottom line is that everything comes down to personal injuries. The anti-amnestiers are hurt because the government doesn't take care of them. Cry more. =*(

No. We just have two different points of view, level of education is not the deal here. So now you want to call pro-amnesty (not proillegal) people uneducated? Don't make me have to show myself off now ;P

There is no way you or anyone else would know the level of pro amnesty supporters education. Whether you are for it or against it what will be will be and there is nothing anyone can do about it except sit in front a computer and complain.
