How to get rid of colds?

I am 14 and I get a cold about once every other week. I really hate having them b/c i always have to miss out on things. I take medicine for them but it never helps.. they just have to go away on their own. Are there any quick ways to get rid of colds FAST because i really dont want to be sick on new years eve!! ( i just got this yesterday)

I'll tell you. Go to your local store. Go to the medicine section. Get one of those things that you put liquid in your nose. I tried it it works fast.
