I absolutely CANNOT drive over the lines. I CANNOT throw a check reciepts from work ( I'm a waitress ) I bring them all home. I keep all my movie ticket stubs. Maybe I'm just a pack rat but why can't I do these things? I can't stand to see things out of order. When a bean falls in the macaroni salad at work, I just HAVE to pick it out. I can't have feathers from my coat on my sweater. It's just random things that I have to do and that drive me crazy. Do I have OCD?

OCD, As you know, Obsessive Compulsive disorder... that is ok>
when you think about anything that is dangerous or may harm you, this is something normal.. people are trying all the time to make themselves safe, But when thoughts or obsessions become over and over obsessions can make you obligated to behave differently and even strangely in order to make your self feel safe>> that are what so called compulsive actions>>>>
That is not dangerous...

If it interferes with your normal functioning or slows down your life and work, then.....yes.

Some cases are mild, some are more severe.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been shown to be useful, because it involves exercises and projects to overcome the thought patterns, or at least to bring them into awareness. SSRI medications are helpful too....but I'd recommend the non-medicine approach first.

It sounds like you do and it's very good that you have identified it. I would seek help immediately. The sooner you start working on it with a professional the faster you can overcome it. You could ask your family doctor for a referral so you find someone good.

Good luck!

You are indeed exhibiting facets of OCD, especially if these traits interfere with your daily life. Check with your doctor. There are medications that are helpful.
