Yes, most officers in law enforcement are credible. Just like any career field out there, there are bad apples. There are some officers that go beyond the line and it is wrong. I do not support fellow officers that cross that line. If I can not catch them legally, then I will get them next time. Does it bother me that they go free... when I know they are guilty as hell. Yes! But I am not going to lower myself to there level and risk my family, my career, and most important my word.
But really sickens me is that you have some of these people posting to your question like every officer is not credible and are dirty as hell. Can they really sit there and think what would happen if there was no law enforcement at all. Where would justice be. If they had even an idea of what we as police go through everyday then they would shut-up and would not make such ridiculous and unintelligent posts.

Yes I do, In 17 years of law enforcement I have only seen 2 police officers that were criminal and they were busted and sent to jail for their actions. In the last 10 years all of the Law Enforcement Officers I work with have college degrees. How can you "barely" have a hig school education. You either do or you don't, sounds kind of like being a little bit pregnant.

Well in every profession there people that are not right for the job. There are a great deal of police officers who shouldnt wear the badge because of ego issues. On the other hand there are the others who go to work everyday to put their life on the line for me and you. You should respect that in a profession where you could be killed for protecting other people, most cops have a good heart. I come from a family with currently 4 police officers and they all have college educations!

Yes we are. I will say that 95% of my fellow officers do this job day in and day out with a very high level of professionalism. The 5% who don't are all you hear about.
Also, most LE agencies are now requiring at least some college. I have a B.A. in Political Science. Also, most agencies spend great amounts of time and money maintaining the training of police officers.
Do not base you opinions of police by those 5% who abuse the system. Base on the 95% that you don't ever notice protecting this country, taking criminals off the streets, saving lives, and putting their lives on the line for people they do not know at all.

After working in this field for many years, I would say most are but the few who are not cast doubt on everyone. I knew some awesome people who were officers and I knew some officers who were criminals that just hadn't been caught.

Yes, I believe that most are honest and sincere. They are people and therefore subjected to the same temptations as everyone. Their training and supervision has to be good, or they can succumb to their temptations and emotions like everyone else.
Overall I think they do a great job and trust most of them.

Yes, because you said MOST. I know that there are some who aren't and that's such a shame because of the power they have. All of them SHOULD be but unfortunatley that is not the case.

Hell no!
It's been my experience that the biggest criminals I have ever known are behind the badge..Not in front of it.
I used to be a FFL dealer and had to deal a lot with police. I have figure out that that is the one profession that is totally backwards. Normally there are 90% good people..and 10% dishonest people. That profession is more like 99% bad and 1% good.
And for those of you that doubt me.... Ask this... What is a cops worst enemy?... NO it is not criminals.. It is IA. Internal Affairs. The cops that watch cops. Why are they the worst hated members of law enforcement?... Because they are the ones that police the police. They are hated by cops because they are the ones that attempt to keep cops honest. They are losing miserably.
I have had to be a witness in several legal dealings with regards to firearms. And it has been my great displeasure to discover that almost all cops are totally crooked. To my experience I have yet to see a single one that has been honest in court. They lie more than any criminal I have ever witnessed in court. And they are never held accountable. Why is that?
They are supposed to be Peace Keepers.. .But now they consider themselves LAW Enforcement. Big difference.
They are taught to be superior to the rest of us. That what they say goes, no question. Well that just isn't they way it is suppose to work.
They get to abuse the law all they want and then tell us to be honest!
And as for the 1% of good cops.... They are abused by the rest that think they are being "goody two shoes" and trying to act superior. So they are abused until they get in line.
Our legal system is about the most crooked business I have ever had the misfortune to be a part of.
I have as of yet refused to participate as a witness for the government ever again. I have now donated my time and expertise to defense. Yes they are crooked also.. But at least they are trying to go by the motto of our legal system of INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!
Our cops are more along the lines of Guilty just cause we say so, and if we cant find proof, we make it up or plant it.

no... they are human, just like everyone else. And human's are selfish and lie and whatnot. They have more power than the typical people and absolutely no more qulifications. Ity's an imbalance, and it creates arrogant, very UNcredible people.
