I talk to a lot of people about the trinity..I find it a bit odd that most people have differant definitions for it... I just want to find out what yours is..
I am not a follower of the Trinity and hear are some reasons why
The Holy Scriptures tell us the personal name of the Father-Jehovah. They inform us that the son is Jesus Christ.. BUt nowhere in the Scriptures is a personal name applied to the holy spirit
Acts 7:55,56 reports that stephen was given a vision of heaven in which he saw Jesus standing at god right hand but he made no mention of seeing the holy spirit (see also Revelation 7:10: 22:1,3

I want to add that a person who is really seeking to know the truth about God is not going to search the Bible hoping to find a text that he can construe as fitting what he already believes. He wants to know what Gods word itself says.
It should be noted most of the texts used as"proof" of the trinity actually mention only two persons not three

1 Cor 11:3 RS
I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ the head of a woman is her husband and the head of Christ is God
(clearly then christ is not god and god is of superior rank to christ. It should be noted that this was written about 55 C.E some 22 years after Jesus returned to heaven. So the truth here stated applies to the relationship between God and Christ in heaven)

Shayna if you read on
1 John 5:9
If we receive the witness of men the witness of God is greater for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of HIS SON
You may find some texts that you feel can be read in more than one way but when these are compared with other Biblical statements on the same subject their meaning will become clear.

I wish that I had room to add on alot more but I dont.. Demon Deacon I think you need to look at how the Jewish scholars introdced a syastem of points to represent the missing vowels in the consonantal hebrew text.. When it came to Gods name instead of inserting the proper vowel signs for it they put other vowel singns to remind the reader that he should say" Adho-nai`(meaning "sovereign Lord") or `elo-him (meaning "God").
thanks for every ones info. Still trying to read all of it with out trying to add my own .. lol this is hard..

Some info of mine came from Reasoning from the Scriptures and

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians; they teach that Christ was and is divine and of the same nature as God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Thanks again for an opportunity to share what the bible actually says about the distinct persons of Jesus Christ the Son and Jehovah God the Father!

The concept of the Trinity is a man-made concept. The Bible never mentions a translated word to support the word, Trinity. Religious leaders in the past have created this concept to support the term, "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost." Does that mean they are equal and All Mighty, seperate, yet one?
Consider this....Jesus went to John the Baptist to get baptized. After the baptism, a dove descends upon Jesus and a voice from heaven speaks approving Jesus. Why would God do this if he's in Jesus? Sounds like two people to me.
Another example is when Jesus quotes that "no one, not even I, know the day nor the hour when the end will come." (I believe it's in Acts.) In other words, not even Jesus knows when the end will come, just God. Sounds like they're not the same person to me.
What about when Jesus died for our sins? He was dead....non-existent, like any other mortal would be, for 3 days. God then resurrected him...Jesus did'nt resurrect himself. He could'nt if he's dead and non-existent.
There are other Biblical examples showing that Jesus and God Almighty are two distinct beings and not equal. Jesus is the Arch angel, but God Jehovah, or Yahweh, is the Almighty.
As for the Holy spirit, this is the force of God used to perform His works. It's not a living thinking entity. Kind of like electricity is a force that powers our machines, yet electricity is not an intelligent being. God uses the Holy Spirit to do anything He desires.

The trinity existed at our creation(Genesis 1:26) which speaks of creating man in the image of ourselves which means more than two people. At the baptism of Jesus, all three enities were present. God spoke, this is my son in whom I am well pleased and then it says the holy spirit descended on Christ in the form of a dove. The holy spirit is the dwelling of Christ within man. The holy spirit is at work when you feel you have done something wrong. When we pray, we ask everything in Jesus' name. When God answers our prayers, He speaks to us through the holy spirit. An example of the trinity is on a spring day when its windy, the sun is out, and it begins to rain. The sun is there because I see it and I know its there. The rain is there because I feel it and see it. The wind would represent the holy spirit because I can not see it but I feel what it is doing in the environment. That is how we know the holy spirit exists because of the way He moved people in the bible and still does it today.

OK, so you believe in Jehovah, God the Father, and His son Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is talked about by Jesus in John14:15, here Jesus talks about the Father, Himself and the Spirit. Again in 1Corinthians 2:12 St. Paul speaks of the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit was left here after the death of Christ for the believers and to convict the unbeliever, so that they may accept Christ.

God chose to interact with mankind through Two manifestatins. Jesus The Christ and The Holy Ghost or Spirit. God is refered to as The Father in The Bible.... Father + Jesus + The Holy Ghost = The Trinity. That is all there is to The Trinity. Basicaly.

The 3 persons in the trinity is supposed to be coequal.
Acts 10:38 How God annoited Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that was oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Then why would 1 God have to annoint another God Jesus with another God the Holy Ghost & with power if they are coequal?

I believe that the trinity is God (the father), Jesus (the Son), and the Holy Spirit. They are all the one true God, but they're like different forms God can take. Jesus was God in the form of flesh (on earth), and the Holy Spirit's presence is in the body of Christ (Christians). God the father is what most people think of when they think of God. The Creator, who's omnipotent and omnipresent. If you have trouble believing the three forms of God, think about water, which can be a solid (ice), liquid (regular water), and gas (vapor). They're all three water, but different forms. That's one theory people have, but it can also be totally different. Us as humans might not be able to comprehend the trinity when we live on this earth.

We know that there is a third person of the triune G-d, because Yeshua promised the Ruach Ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit) before He ascended into Heaven. We saw the spirit of G-d descend upon Jesus as a dove at the Jordan river baptism. There are accounts throughout the scriptures of the actions of the Holy Spirit. I have sensed input from the spirit as the bible has promised that the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth. Read Benny Hinns "Good Morning Holy Spirit".

The fact that God exists in three Persons is documented in Scripture(Isa.48:16;-John10:30,-
Psalms 110:1;2- Second Corinthians 13:14 and 1Peter 1:2.)
When emphasizing essence, however, the Bible says that God is one(Deut.6:4)"One"being a descriptive adjective meaning identical in essence.
The attributes of God are: Sovereignty, righteousness, justice , love, eternal life, omnipresence, omniscience, omnipotence, immutability and veracity.
God in grace has revealed Himself, and what is revealed of God's essence is revealed to be understood through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Peace out.

To me, one of the strongest proofs of the trinity comes from the great commission in Matthew 28.

Matthew 28:16-20

16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

BTW, Jehovah is not the name of God in any of the native languages of Scripture. It is a German combination of the consonants of YHVH (Germans changed the Y to a J) and the German translation of one of the other names for God used in the OT (it is either Elohim or Adonai, I don't remember which one right now.) So, the closest translation we have for the personal name of God is something like Yahweh, although there is no way to know for sure how it was actually pronounced.
