I would buy tickets to a party by one of the radio stations. Tickets are about 100 buck a pop and you get all the drinks etc. and good music and sometimes some party food.

A lot of clubs already have cover at 100 a pop just to get in anyway!
So even if the party cost 200 you are getting a deal.

A recipe for fun: watch the ball drop (on TV) and right at the stroke of midnight bang together some pots and pans as loudly as you can (outside, of course, so everyone can hear you.)
Don't forget to blow your kazoo as well. Bring at least 2 cans of silly string and spray it all over your date (and any unfortunate passers by) right after midnight (but remember, no matter what, don't ever ever ever spray silly string before midnight, that causes bad luck for the rest of the year.)Take it all in. Breathe. Contemplate the fascinating notion that it is now 2007. Turn around and head to bed. Good night.

you are not going to find somewhere to go on new years night thats cheap and doesnt need reservation.

you can go to a comedy club but you probably need reservations and dependin on which comedy club its gonna cost you

you can go to a club. probably wont need reservation for that

try a restaurant. just not the ones in times square cause you'll probably be waitin hours just to get seated

and if all else fail, just go to times square with the only purpose of watchin the ball fall. its cheap but will be crowded

Times Square, watch the ball drop. Make sure you have food and drinks with you there. That's about as cheap as it gets. Otherwise most places are booked or over expensive.
