We plan to stay in Lucerne for 2 days. Between Titlis and Pilatus, which is worth visiting in 'February'? We are not into winter sports but would love to see the scenery and generally play in the snow. And we plan to spend one day in the Lucerne city. Thanks.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It surely helps us make a decision.

Btw, the photos don't open up... is there a privacy setting in webshots?

Lucerne is a lovely little city surrounded by mountains. I stayed there last year...but we went in the warmer month of May and I can imagine that it would be much colder in February.
We took the trip up to Mt Pilatus on a fine day, but it's quite cold up there. It's a fantastic journey.
You should only go up when the weather is fine, though.

The best way to get there is to first take the boat trip on the Lake, then travel up by cog railway (which has the steepest ascent in the world) then you take a large Gondola down, then a small cablecar, then back by bus. In winter, the travel there and back might be a bit different, due to the weather.

Mt Titlis is in the small town of Engelberg, which is about one hour away by train from Lucerne. It has the large rotating Cable Cars up to the mountain...I have never been up to Mt Titlis, but next time I would like to go up there.

These mountain trips are not cheap, but you can get special passes for various mountain visits.

I'm not sure which mountain would be best to see in February, but the town of Engelberg is nice and there is a Glacier Cave at Mt Titlis. You will need a good day to explore Lucerne (the old town and along the river and lake, up along the old town wall and the lion monument, transport museum etc).

I am heading to Switzerland too in end of January. This may sound crazy, but we're trying to rush see as much of Europe as I can (check my avatar), we were thinking of spending one day in Luzerne, then next in Interlaken, the next day a few hours in Montreux to visit the cheatteau de chillon then then the rest of the day in Geneva. Sounds hectic but I'm sure we're gonna have fun.

Concerning the Titlis or Pilatus, I actually plan to visit the Jungfrauch in Interlaken. I heard it was the best view by far, or the Matterhorn in Zermatt.

From Luzerne, though, I'd think Pilatus is a good choice if budget is something you are concerned of.

Both are lovely (I haven't been to either in February though). I think Pilatus would have the edge on the not-being-overrun-by-snowboarders-and-skiers front. Titlus has a better view on a good day. I believe Pilatus is a bit cheaper.

From very own adventure, I tremendously advise Pilatus. The perspectives are truly BREATHTAKING. I enjoyed the experience up there besides - very actual. There are tunnels so you might locate and you will even climb around somewhat on the rocks around there. as quickly as you end on the top, you are able to take a gondola all the way down to a play section with a great slide (you get on little wheeled carts - very relaxing) and a ropes direction. you are able to take yet another gondola experience lower back to city from there. They take care of to pay for astounding perspectives.
