I just had a car accident. No one got injured fortunately. But the another car got damaged on the front. my car is kind of ok. Actually, it was my fault. I was standing in the entrance of the mall, but i figured that i need to change the direction so i tried to go back,at this moment i couldn't see the another car was right behind me and i crahsed it. After that, I and he exchanged the information(insurance, license #, etc) and as soon as i got home i called him that i want him to get estimate at the car repair shop. In this case, what should i do? if the cost is too high, should i contact with my insurance company? because the insurance will go up high much higher.. give me some advise!!

A year ago I hit the back of a co-worker's van. We both have the same insurance company. They paid to fix his damage and I had no out-of-pocket expenses. The total was $1200 and my rates only slightly increased. Never hide info from your insurance company. They'll find out, probably drop you, and you get put on the "high risk" list for a few years. The truth is always cheaper for everybody.

Contact your insurance company ASAP. You have no idea how fast a situation like this can go bad. Trust me, your rates won't go up nearly as much as it will cost to repair the other car.

Not sure what kinda car insurance you have, but you're suppose to pay the deductible (if you have any) and your insurance covers the rest of the damages to the limit specified on your coverage.

Your insurance company is going to know about it anyway because his insurance company will contact yours to exchange info.

Call your insurance company, tell them you caused an accident and give them the necessary information. They will then take care of it for you. If you owe any deductible, they will bill you.
