water is best, but it is important to drink before, during, and after a climb. i would recommend bringing a camel back with you; they claim that the best way to stay hydrated is to drink little sips all day. after climbing, we usually make several pots of tea to stay warm and to hydrate.
emergen C (packets found at the health food counter) are a good way to get minerals and add a little flavor to water.

Water is best, but it should be mixed with electrolytes. Take any good brand of Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS), mixed with water. Or water with glucose.
This is to ensure that u don't lose too much of essential salts while sweating
