Coffee, spices, citrus fruit, nuts high in the amino acid arginine (especially walnuts), chocolate, and strawberries irritate canker sores and cause them in some people. A few other remedies that I can suggest:
1. Apply a wet, black tea bag to the ulcer. Black tea contains tannin, an astringent (has pain-relieving ability).
2. Dilute 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide in a glass of water and swish it around, or try the over-the-counter mouthwash called Folamint. It contains no stinging alcohol, but does contain healing aloe vera, folate, zinc, and vitamin C.
3. In olden days, people used to take ear wax from their ears and apply it to the canker sore as a cure. :)
4. There are also pastes that form a protective "bandage" over the sore. To get pastes like Orabase to work, dry the sore with one end of a cotton swab, then immediately apply the paste with the other end. It will work only on beginning sores, however.
5. To avoid more canker sores in the future, if you see one starting, take 500 milligrams of vitamin C with bioflavonoids three times a day for the next three days.

Try adcortyl in orabase (tiny tube of ointment available from pahrmacies). Put it on last thing at night before you go to sleep - usually the ulcer is gone by morning. Bonjela is a good quick fix to allow you to get through a meal without stinging, but it doesn't actually cure the ulcer. My husband swears by rubbing salt into an ulcer - it really hurts but it does seem to make them heal quicker. Ulcers often appear if you're a bit run down - get plenty of vitamin C.

Hi, i get mouth ulcers alot and i find it hard to get rid of them, I us anbesol which is good and stops them stinging like mad for a while. But if you havent go any then salt water is just as good, but use very hot water though it really hurts, but itdoes soothee your ulcers after wards. Then tomorrow go to the chemist and get some oraldene, this has the same numbing effect and doesnt hurt if you use it often during the day they should go in a few days. I get ulcers when i have crips, especially salt and vineager or prawn cocktail, so i cant eat them anymore. I only have to have one bag and the next day i will have an ulcer.
Some people say that stress and being run down can cause them but i dont believe this as its only when i have crips, apples and orange juice anything that is sour or acidic. I think it burns the mouth causing us to get mouth ulcers.
I hope you get something for them as i know how much they hurt. My teeth usually get sort as well wen i have a mouth ulcer but that might just be me,

Assuming it's a common mouth ulcer (aphthous ulcer), then the best remedy is a corticosteroid ointment in a waterproof base. It's called Kenalog in Orabase which contains triamcinalone acetonide. I believe it's about USD$28 per tube. It is very effective for pain relief and for accelerated healing. My daughter uses it often.
Pull out your lip and dry off the ulcer with a tissue. With your little finger, place a dab of onitment on the ulcer and smear it into place. Don't rub it in or it will crumble. Do this 2x daily after having brushed your teeth first.
Another contributer has previously suggested a dental laser of the type Nd:YAG will also work. It seems likely, but probably more costly.

Keep up with a salt rinse if bonjela doesn't work (Have you tried it more than once? I find it a miracle cure) It could be the stress of Christmas that makes them break out.

Lay off the sweets and hot drinks for a while and soak a cotton bud in antiseptic TCP. Jam the cotton bud into the mouth ulcer, it will sting like hell, but it keep there for a few seconds. Do this a few times a day and the ulcer will start to shrink slowly until it's gone.

Keep rinsing your mouth with salt water. Bonjela only eases the pain for a while, tastes good though!

ok Me and my dad were to docs we both have those issues. each so often once you devour too a lot acidic meals as in (tomatoes, soda, culmination etc...) will reason this. if you're a great fruit eater and also you devour alot of acidic culmination this may be why. I easily have also heard the about the inability of particular minerals being the reason. also that it would want to be from bacteria contained in the body. yet when ya devour fit take supplements typically and watch how a lot culmination and such that you're taking in they look to stay away and sparkling up speedier. a good number of water!!

You need to boost your immune system, with immune boosting foods.
There will be plenty of help on the web for this.
And take zinc as a supplement.
Obviously these are long term solutions.
A gentle salt mouth wash , but not enough salt to sting, or if you can get it, dentyl ph mouth wash as it is very gentle and cleaning!
but it is a long process to get rid of them once you get one - sorry!

I used to get them really bad, six or seven at a time. Nothing works, byt some things can soothe them for a while. On a positive note, I grew out of them eventually...still get the odd one, but not as bad.
