I'm not sure what you mean by getting your knees together. Are you having trouble getting your free leg close to the other when you try to spin? For that, you just need practice pulling it against the force when spinning.
The other answers said stretching and practice, which help, but the biggest thing is strength. The more low you go, the more weight on your leg and knee that is skating, so strengthen your legs a little and try the position off the ice. Also, if you can use a mirror to see how low you are right now.
You can do squats to help with strength in your legs. It's mainly your calves and your knee that do the work.
Hope that helps!

u should do "shoot the ducks" on and off the ice. (that's where u do the same position for the sit spin but moving forward) keep doing it until u can get down and then back up by urself without falling or pushing urself on anything. when u have that, do the backward crossovers with the 3 turn and into the spin. stretch out like if u wanted 2 hug some1 and get the feeling of the rotation. then u start getting lower and make sure ur legs r squeezed 2gether so there's no space in between. then get back up and then u do a scratch spin. keep trying until u have it but don't spin more than 3 times in a row or ur legs will get tired. that's exactly what i do and i can get really low. btw, when u sit, don't make it look like ur hiding ur head in ur arms.
keep practicing and u'll get it...luv ya even though i don't know ya!!!!! (or do i ????!!!)

when you work out try to focus on your thigh muscles. when you do that that . as soon as you spin whip your arms in then go as low as you can go by pretending your sitting in a really low chair.

a lot of practice. It tooks me months before I could even do a decent one. Be sure to stretch at home and right before your practice to warm up
