I have decided to join one or two internet dating sites. I hear you all but I will give it a go. I am 41, only been in long term relationships and I feel ready and willing to find that special someone again. Done a bit of dating, bit of how's your father and just wondered, are there any good men left out there. I want someone who makes me laugh, someone who is caring, passionate, honest...all the usual. Nice looking would help too. Advice please, am I going down the wrong alley here?

Andrea-you are NOT going down the wrong alley here-but you DO need to be safe when using inertnet dating sites. I know there are many on these sites that find the ultimate partner they have been looking for all these years-but for every one of them, there are at least TWO horror stories to be heard as well...the 16 year old girl that posted was correct in what she said about dating sites, and it was good advice for one so young in years. So yes, you go for it deary-41 is NOT too old at all-there ARE good and decent guys out there-but you MUST be safe at all times...your safety is paramount, not only to you-but your family also. Always tell a reliable person-(preferably some one in the family)-where you are meeting the "date"-rough times of meeting and coming home, which type of transportation system you are likely to use, have a rape alarm with you, mace or pepper spray-(fck the law)-don't use private mini-cabs, and always have at least a tenner-"run away money"-as me mum used to call it!! Above all have a jolly good time girly, as i am sure, looking back on your other posts, that you deserve it:-) Best of...

The right man comes around when you least expect him to. You can't walk around (or internet surf) looking for Mr. Right all the time. Just live your life. Do the internet site thing cause you can find some pretty cool people on there, whether they are Mr. Right or not. Just have fun and be yourself because that person will see you having fun and want to join you.

Your not going down the wrong alley, you want to find happiness and theirs nothing wrong with that.

Mr Perfect may use the internet, he may not but you may find some decent guys along the way before you find the 'one'.

I Know how your feel, I'm looking for Miss Perfect. I will find her just like you will find Your Mr Perfect someday.

Good luck, follow your dreams and keeping smiling.

I wouldn't rule it out as I know of a few people who have met people over the internet and through using chatrooms. Just be sensible about it as I'm sure you will be - don't give out too much information and remember its all fairly anonymous so you could be chatting with anyone!! It can be great fun though - don't go into it looking for a serious relationship and you won't be disappointed. Good luck and hope life brings you the good things you would wish for yourself xx

I wouldnt do internet dating, you never know who is on the other end. You will find him when you are least expecting it, I did. I had 3 long term relationships. 6 years, 10 years and 10 years. I met my now husband by chance, wasnt looking, it just happened.

Was just wondering why Carbonix thinks its a "lil" hard. Doesnt life begin a 40?

The Internet is one avenue and I guess your Mr Right may not use it for dating purposes but lots of possibles do.
Good luck and be careful out there.

There's also a possibility that your Mr. Perfect could live in Europe. So I wouldn't worry about whether he uses the 'net.

Well, remember to keep a social life going too. You may find him when you're not looking... I found the right person when I wasn't looking for anyone, and it was a surprise.

Thank God if he doesn't use the internet. Makes for a normal sort of guy! Not that all guys that use the internet are wrong, but this guy has no interest in anything not 'real'. Lucky girl
