My friends and I are going to fly to Montana, and this will be my first time flying. So could someone tell me what happens when you go to an airport? Thanks.

Bamma fly to Montana. Bamma say nothing to it. Bamma say you go to port. Bamma say stand in line. Bamma say get boarding pass. Bamma say some perv xray you. Bamma say open luggage. Bamma say look at all your stuff. Bamma say no try to sneak something in there. Bamma say they open it in public. Bamma say bring clean underwear. Bamma say after that you home free to drink lots of beer for scary ride. Bamma say gets windy in Montana sky. Bamma just kidding. Bamma say flying easier than pushing shopping cart. Bamma say so.

First, you go to the COUNTER of the airways you are flying on. There will be a line. You give the people there your ticket/passport/and check in your luggage.

Then with only your hand-luggage, you go to the security checkpoint where they will scan your bags. At this point, you are required to remove all jewelry/shoes/empty your pockets and put the items in small plastic boxes. They will be scanned seperately.

Then you go through the metal detector. You get your hand luggage/put back jewelry/shoes and get going to the gate of departure.

I dunno which airport you are going to but in some international airports, there is an additional security check like the one above!

If not, you just go to the gate (where there is a bridge that connects the building to the airplane) and just wait in the comfy seats till departure time (they will anounce it when it arrives so you don't have to worry about missing anything!)

Also, if you need any help/assistance, you can ALWAYS ask the uniformed staff that is nearby. I am an international traveller and American airport staff are the friendliest I have met and they will be glad to offer any help.

And have a GREAT first flight! You are going to enjoy it.

Peace and God Bless!

My first reaction is to be a smart *** and say you're not outside anymore.

BUT
You will need to check in at the appropriate counter (depending on what airline you're flying) to either purchase or pick up your boarding passes. You'll check your bags here also. Then you're free to wander until it gets closer to time for you to board. You'll need to go through the security check and can then wait at whatever gate your plane is departing from. Some airports will have more than one security point, so be prepared to take off your shoes and belt.
Dress comfortably for the flight. Take a book or dvd or cd player along for something to do on the way.

You'll go to a kiosk or stand in a line to check in so they don't give your seat to a standby passenger. Your big luggage will be taken to be screened and stashed on the plane. Then you move to the gate area. In some airports, your gate will be far away and you'll need to ride a tram or bus. When you get there, you'll have to stand in line to go thru a security check. Wear socks because you have to take your shoes off and put them through the x-ray machine along with everything you're carrying, including in your pockets. While your stuff is being x-rayed, you'll walk through a metal detector. If you have piercings, you'll set off an alarm and have to be pulled aside to be searched. Then you just go sit and wait for your plane. While you're waiting, you have access to shopping, restaurants and bathrooms.

On the plane, you can put your carry-on stuff overhead or under your seat. You can't have a bag in your lap during takeoff and landing. Listen to the instructions if you have a laptop or Gameboy. When you're getting on and off the plane, be aware that people have to stand and wait while you're fidgeting in the aisle.

When you land, you'll go to the baggage claim area and pull your suitcases off the conveyor belt. Then you're done!

You enter, check in your luggage at the front desk of the airline you're flying with. Then you go over to the gate that you should be boarding the plane at, hang out there for a while, board the plane and leave.

you go to the check in stand, check in your luggage, go through security and then you find your terminal and wait for your flight. If you have time, its always fun to look through the different stores, I always go for the perfume shops. =)
