What country? If the USA I recommend you stay put until the baby is born. There are too many imponderables, too many discretionary issues. You can always extend your stay for medical reasons (pregnancy; your doctor will doubtless support your application) but once you leave you need a new visa which you surely will not get. Or not get easily.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother. But why do you think that being pregnant will have an effect? Has your visa gone out of date? If so, you probably stand a better chance in getting it sorted by going in person, you may find you actually have to do it that way if it's completely out of date. Good luck. I hope all goes well.

You should apply by mail, to extend your visa for personal reasons. If they know you are expecting, they may deny your request. What is your country of citizenship? how long do you have on your current visit? If you have time, just extend your visa through mail! By the way, are you in the U.S. or have you returned to your country? It sounds like you want to travel "back"......... if you are in your home country, you may have problems at the port of entry if you are "visibly" pregnant.

Good luck
