I don't have microsoft word on my labtop, only wordpad and notepad. Can you just press the space bar 2 times if there's not an option to double space, or am I missing the option to double space? Thank you, I have to type a book report and it requires double spacing.

Ctrl + 2 will do double spacing in word pad.
Ctrl +1 will single space.

Nope.. Double spacing is a line spacing thingy in Word. Pressing the spacebar just makes bigger gaps between words. Pushing the enter button at the end of each line twice would have a similar effect though.

Double spacing means between the lines, not between the words, therefore, y ou would push the enter key twice at the end of a line, not the space bar.

Everyone is right about the term 'double spacing.' If you want to create two spaces in a line of text, however, then yes - hit the space bar twice. FYI: that used to be done after a period, but the practice is no longer acceptable when making submissions to the primary news media. It has sort of died off...

In wordpad there is the option to double space, i.e. space under each line.
