Just because the insurance company was notified about the accident, does not mean there has been a claim filed. If no claim was filed then you can settle it among yourselves. Just make sure IF you settle it yourselves without the insurance company, get things in writing. After wards the other guy could claim personal injury, or more damage to the car etc. So cover yourself with some kind of waiver/agreement that he has been paid in full. All car damage has been paid for. And no personal injury was involved. Nothing may happen, but better safe than sorry later.

They may allow you to handle it on your own. If YOUR insurance company is notified (his company may notify them) you may be out of luck. Even if they don't pay anything, you may get insurance points added to your policy. Usually is is 3 points if you are at fault in an accident regardless of the pay out. These points are calculated when your insurance policy renews and will cause the premium to go up. I was an insurance agent for 8 years. If YOUR company doesn't find out, you may get away with it but legally you are suppose to tell them.

O-k, even if he calls them it can still be handled directly with you guys.
He more than likely just notified them in order to cover their butts in the event that you don't follow through on your own and pay for this. With a police report in hand and having your insurance come out and investigate his damages he can get them to pay for his repair needs if you don't.
Hes just being sure they know now and not 3 weeks from now if you don't do something about it.It makes it easier for him.
All you have to do is tell him to get three estimates so you have comparison of costs to repair it so you can be sure all shops are within the same money ball park.
Then give him the money for the shop he chooses.
Your insurance will not be affected as far as rates and things go unless they actually have to put up money to fix his car.So, all you have to be sure is that he does not except funds from them to do this and you have record of receipt of alternative payment from either you or your dad to protect you from him telling them you didn't pay for it and having the insurance give him money as well.

Your question is so puzzled and perplexing that i'm uncertain the place to initiate, yet...If the different motive force had no coverage on the time of the twist of destiny, he desires to pay you for any damages he reason; coverage beginning day after today won't help him or you. His license would be suspended by utilising the DMV for no longer having coverage, and there is no longer something he or you're able to do approximately that. it is going to stay suspended till he's paid you in finished. i'm hoping that "500 criminal duty" you point out is $500,000 criminal duty insurance; it you mean your deductible is $500 on collision, that's what you will could desire to shell out if he would not pay you.

There is nothing that requires anyone to file a claim with insurance if they want to settle it themselves. I don't think notifying the ins co should be a problem.

if they have filed with their insurance they can close that claim out without payment. if the damage is less than your deductible then pay for it out of pocket. have them take it to a body shop and get an estimate. if the estimate is way too much then file it with your insurance company. you will have to pay the deductible but you won't have to pay the rest.

Should not be a problem. Going thru the ins. company will raise your rates for many years. Its cheaper to pay out of your pocket
