Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sprinkle it with a little bit of coarse or kosher salt, and use the flat edge of a knife to mash it into a paste. Works like a charm.

You can shake some salt on the garlic and then with the side of a knife press on the garlic it should mash up really fast. I find that the taste of a recipe is changed when using jarred garlic. I prefer to use fresh the taste is brighter. I hope that I have been some help to you.

Um well if its diced garlic just put whatever garlic u want to make into paste and use your chefs knif or whatever knife and press down on the garlic over and over and u will be able to make paste from that.

Put garlic buds in a plastic bag and gently tap with a hammer to mash it.

I would put it in a large ziploc and roll it with my rolling pin. Maybe that would work.
