Why don't people get along? What is so wrong with PEACE that people just clearly don't want it?

Can't we all just get along?
Rodney King asked that question years ago. Now, I am reframing the issue by rewording the question.
Here is my little bit of poetry:
"The battles of ALL nations, races, sexes, creeds can CEASE
If what people really want in THIS WORLD TODAY is PEACE. "
Agree or Disagree? FINE. But tell me why.

Greed! It is hard to get along with some who is coveting your property.

I'm all for peace but until we change our reward system there will be wars. We need to limit the amount one can accumulate. That way there is still incentive but it is not as likely to get out of hand to where a person can buy power over others.

It is this competition without boundrys that causes some to fan the flames of war.

As a wise man said in answer to my question,, it is hard to get a man to take a bullet to put a dollar in someone elses pocket.

Religious leaders need to put a united front out there to their followers that war is not the way unless you are provably being defensive. This idea that war helps anyone but the rich is sheer stupidity on the part of the friends of God and unless we start teaching now it will continue.

the next leader to hang should be Bush.

There are so many wars cause some people like to control other people and then some people think that there should only be one race or belief and some people start killing other people over this. There will always be evil in the world, till the end of time, we can only pray and hope for the best!

WE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO ATTAIN IT.

There are many reasons why we cannot gain a peacefull existence here on little 'ol earth, but the main reason , is that the most basic of human faults gets involved.
The fault I'm referring to is not normally considered a fault but actually a benefit to mankind itself. EVOLUTION.
There is only one basic prerequisite for evolution to occur.
man must have a conflict in order to grow. whether it be mentally or physically, man must have an obstacle to overcome in order to improve him/her self. It is impossible to grow without it.
There is no way you could enhance the knowledge and being of mankind with out giving it a reason to grow.
As you can clearly seeeven in todays technology, every advancement from toaster ovens to computers have improved by leaps and bounds only thanks to the military.
You can't even change the color of your hair with out being in conflict with the original color.
Although changing your hair color is an easier battle to win than say, world peace....... the concept is the same.
We will never have world peace in the basic understanding of it .
the closest we will ever come to world peace is "world cooperation". we would need an extraterestrial enemy or a globally catastrophic situation to pull us all to work together. Whether it's in harmony or not is yet to be seen.

The key answers to world peace:

Sensible world leaders, mutual respect and tolerance, and proper understanding of Islam by both bigoted non-Muslims and also by radical Islamists who are also Quranic literalists.

Islam is not about world domination, for God himself said in the holy Quran that had He willed for mankind to be one, He would have not created mankind into many nations.

In a Utopian world, that would be no problem, but this is the real world. Countries want money, land, power, and natural resources, and as long as they are prepared to go to war for it, there will be no peace.

I really would like to know the answer. We do not have to be best friends, we do not have to be crazy about each other; but we SHOULD BE ABLE to RESPECT each other and live in PEACE.

Is it interest conflict? Intolerance? Prejudice? Fear? Power?

I believe we are not religious enough. All religions call for tolerance, peace, love, mercy, respect, and compassion.

Can one single verse answer these questions?

Jesus said, " You should forgive others when they make mistakes; If you do not forgive other people, your father in Heaven will not forgive you."

Do you hold a grudge against anyone? -- If yes, you will never get along with them.

Do you hold a grudge against anyone? -- If yes, God will never forgive you.

Do you hold a grudge against anyone? -- If yes, You do not qualify for Heaven.

(It is pretty simple, eh? But the most ironic thing in Religion is that Bubba Preachers will never give a sermon on "How we should forgive others". Why? They would lose their congregation, because most people hold grudges, and they want to keep their grudges. Islam bases its religion on holding a grudge against the Jews and Christians. (2nd half of Koran; Qur'an) .)
