Yes a love bird can have a normal life,
Althou you may want to think about adapting the cage to suit its needs, sometimes this includes making a plat-form for it to go on, also including alot of ladders and stuff.
If you need more advice feel free to click on my name and email me, i have had dealings with this sort of thing,
You may also wish to contact your vet and get your love bird check ups reguarly as they are prone to "stomach sores" wish isnt nice for them.
How old is it? if its still a baby as in not many feathers and still on rearing food you can make a cast to pull his joints in which solves the problem? If its not a baby dont even try it as u will break the legs.....
Goodluck

Yes they can have a normal life. They learn how to cope.
I have 3 budgies with splayed legs they are doing well.
One of them called Hops has raised 2 clutches sucessfully. No splayed legs from her babies which is good. A perfect mum.
(I don't know if you know but it's the mum that sat to heavy on the baby thats why the chick had splayed legs)

I don't have a lovebird, but I do have a cockateil runt, with splay leg since birth. She is now almost 6 years old and going strong. Since they can't stand on a perch, i have her cage set up with: Towels or old blankets lining the bottom of her cage with newspaper on top, and depending on the size of your cage, as many stuffed animals to brace herself on, set all around the inside of the cage. It makes it a little easier to move around , and softer to land on if she loses her grip and falls. Also set food and water dish where she doesn't need to climb real high to reach it. Sometimes Avian Veterinarians can fix splay leg, it depends on the bird. You may want to check it out. In my case, there was nothing the could do for her. Good Luck! Hope This Helps!

expensive Questioner, I do understand you asked and emphasised a pair of woman dealing with comparable studies as you. I in simple terms thought it may desire to be powerful to get a guy's point of view. i think of that's for anatomical and convenience motives that we take those seated postures. The splayed legs are simply by fact of (for the shortcoming of a greater effective term and that i'm no longer attempting to be crude) how we are geared up under the belt. it truly is totally uncomfortable for the time of a few styles of transportation no be counted if it automobile, bus, airplane. all the pass shifts issues directly and painfully each now and then. The legs being greater open enables avert this. The arm over the lower back of the seat is probably simply by having wider shoulders and larger hands. In crowded seating we in simple terms could desire to be bumping you here or there. The arm over the seat could actually help to sidestep bumping your arm or maybe breast. (If he's doing it inappropriately, that's in simple terms incorrect.) thinking approximately it now; I usually take a seat this manner (having the arm around the lower back) while vacationing with a relatives member. i'm going to do it with a pal or aquatience. besides the undeniable fact that, i do no longer think of i might do it with a stranger on a bus. besides the undeniable fact that, I truly have been in circumstances the place having my arm over the seat looked greater acceptable that having my arm consistently rubbing up against a woman. (I fly lots for corporation). additionally, too, each now and then we in simple terms are not getting it. We have been by no skill taught to take a seat down like a 'lady'. We have been taught to be 'adult adult males'. If it takes place lower back, I recommend you properly deliver your soreness to the guy's interest. (in simple terms endure in innovations you entice greater bees with honey...) perhaps you are able to recommend a fashion you are able to the two be greater soft. with any luck he would be a Gentleman approximately it. i'm hoping this little insite is robust.
