My adopted son did this successfully. He went to the agency that originally arranged with us for his adoptioin. His records were "private" but he asked them to contact his biological mother and see if she had an interest in meeting. She said "yes," and he also learned that he had two biological brothers!! Now we all know each other, and his biological brothers spend Thanksgiving and Christmas eve with us as well!! Good luck!

I agree with the person whos son went through the agency that did the adoption. Try the local agency first. I must tell you that you should double check the age requirement first. When I turned 18 I was told I had to wait until 21 because they had just changed the law. Also don't listen to people who ask you why you want to look for your biological family and tell you you should be happy with your adopted family. They have to realize that no matter if you grew up with the best or the worst family after the adoption that it is about your biology which is something you can't find out where you are.
Good luck with your search and I hope you find what you are looking for. But also keep in mind that it may not be what you are expecting.

Sounds like they are trying to get their kids out of the house as quick as they can... I'm guessing because they are probably trying to sell their house, and down-size before their house loses too much value. Pawning off a 15 year old on you sounds like a little too much. You need more information. Yeah, it sounds suspicious. Start shopping for a reasonable 2 bedroom apartment in a reasonably-priced area. Find out what the rent, deposits and utilities will run. Then go check with the local community college of the costs of a Associate's degree program... you need career training to be able to make enough money to really support yourself after your parents cut you off, and you will need help to pay for an education. You being at school most evenings means you will not be home in your apartment much and the 15 year old will not have much supervision = trouble.

Start by talking to your foster parents. Tell them that this is important to you. Then go to the children's aid association, they should have records of your biological parents.
Although please note that it may be very difficult for your bio parents to see you. They may not want to see you.
In any event good luck to you.

Different countries will have different procedures. If you can update the question to let us know whereabouts in the world you are, it will be much easuer for folks to offer appropriate information.
