Possible, but not easy and always advisable. I think it is difficult for the one who did not choose to break up. It gives them false hope that they will get back together and makes is harder to move on, heal, and begin to see other people. So, I don't recommend it at least in the beginning. It would be easier after a bit of time has passed.

Yes, as long as you don't act like a complete jerk. Both of you have to obviously want to be friends.... It won't happen over night, of course but with time you two could become friends again. She has to get over all the feelings she feels after the breakup. After that it should be pretty easy. Good luck, man.
