It should be on your log book, failing that go to an insurance firm on the internet and type in your car details on a quote form, normally if you type in the reg number it will come up with the details of the car.If all else fails call in to your nearest vw dealership and i bet a mechanic will be able to tell you!

This will be on you log book. If you havent got one - by that i mean youve mislaid it and the car is legally yours - you can apply for a new one from the DVLA, get a form V62 from the PO and it will cost you £19
