On the larger scale, I think it's lacking. On a smaller scale, I see examples of it all the time - even a simple as someone taking on a duty for a co-worker because they know that person is sick or having a hard time; or bigger when someone loses a home in a fire, people donate food, furniture, belongings, etc. It's here, it's definitely here... There just needs to be more of it.
Edit to add: for those who think brotherly love is "only for Christians," I think you're wrong. It's a tenet of many religions, and even for those who are not religious.

Hebrews was addressed to the born again believers who were zealous for the law. In other words, the born again jews. It was to remind them of the second great commandment. But you are using it to condemn the world which is judgement and doesn't the word of God also say judge not lest ye be judged?
Never try to compare scripture to the world to condemn, never judge. The people of the world are merely puppets in the hands of the devil and his minions for he is the god of this world and has dominion of it.
We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spirittual wickedness.
Our enemy is never people no matter what they do. Our enemy is the devil and his fallen angels who kill, steal and destroy. Who lie and decieve the world and cause all the pain and suffering in it.

It's lacking, brother. Sorry. It's not the 1960s OR the 1970s anymore. Everyone hates each other.

This is speaking about love between brothers "in Christ"....the family of God.
And it is true that not even this is perfect. If it were, the Bible would not have to encourage us to do it more or more often.
As far as loving our neighbor, that's not perfect either. We all admit that we will need the grace of God till the day we die and are then PERFECTED. Until then, we are always encouraged to "grow in love".

Weel; it all depends on the infamous...translation. I understand the word "brother" to mean a member of one's close family. So, showing love in this context would mean doing so to those of a similar faith; no?

I think it is lacking. We are too often full of criticism and not of love.
