Isaiah 11:7: "And the cow and the bear themselves will feed; together their young ones will lied own. And even the lion will eat straw just like the bull."

They got fangs and claws because that's how God made them. Things aren't perfect like they were before Adam and Eve rebelled, so maybe we don't fully understand certain aspects of God's creations. Come to think of it, for a really long time it was thought that the appendix had no purpose...they think now it has something to do with the immune system. Maybe lions were given fangs and claws because they look really cool...or so they can scratch an itch. As for death, animals probably lived much longer lives than they do now, but if I remember correctly from my studies, they weren't given the possibility of eternal life like humans. Plus, this would provide a definition of "death" to Adam and Eve...otherwise they may not get a full understanding what death was.

The Bible is up for interpretation, using many metaphors…

I have a hard time believing that Eve ate an apple became instantly smart and caused the downfall of man. I have eaten many apples and did not gain great astuteness after doing so.

I believe there has been a lot of bedtime stories passed down and misconstrued as truth

And I’m sure the animals ate meat. Not only their teeth and claws, but also their digestive systems are designed for protein. Carnivore’s animals only have about two feet of intestine while Humans have over thirty feet.

No death before sin; animals did not eat each other, they were vegetarian
Gen 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein [there is] life, [I have given] every green herb for meat: and it was so.

There are animals TODAY with fangs and claws that are vegetarian; the panda, for example.

Before SIN, the animals eat herbs and grass!

WHEN Jesus reigns here on earth during His 1000-year reign the Animals will eat straw AGAIN!

(Isaiah 11:7) And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

(Isaiah 65:25) The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

Thanks, RR

The Bible teaches that God INTENDED that there be no killing or death for His creation.

Gen 1:29-31
29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.
(from New International Version)

After the Flood, things changed. Evidently the whole world was different and it was no longer a greenhouse of vegetation to sustain either man or all other creatures.

Gen 9:1-3
9:1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. 2 The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. 3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
(from New International Version)

Whether "carnivores" were changed by God or they had tearing teeth from the beginning, I don't know. We don't know that these creatures could not have been vegetarians with the teath and claws of today. We just say they are better suited as carnivores.

No to your question. The Garden period is symbolic of the Golden ages. No decay, blith, death not even consciousness of Oneself. Source/god and man/woman where ONE!

Was there an Aids virus, Smallpox? Questions, questions...

Hehe and of course many of those animals today do not possess enzymes to allow them to be vegetarian so they must have evolved.....

God made all the carnivores with molars and without incisors. He would give the loins, tigers and bears ( Oh,my! ) tofu rabbits and gazelles.

My science is bunk. I shows an overactive imagination. ( Isn't that what you need to believe in the Bible?)

Yes, there was death in the garden.

God Himself killed animals in order to use their skins for coverings for Adam and Eve when Eve suddenly realized that she had titties.
