no, but here is another equally profound:

I Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, 5 does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. 6 it does not rejoice over unrighteousness but rejoices with the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things 8 Love never fails

I guess no one writing the bible knew that in a real definition, you can't use the word you are defining.
Love is a chemical reaction in your brain when you think you have a suitable mate. I just did a better job than the bible. Maybe we should stop quoting an ancient book written by nomads, and start using common sense and science. That definition may have worked for the people of that time, but we know better now.

Since love is the main task for us to spread in the world, God gave us a better breakdown to explain just what love is, before going out to share it with others.

Nothing says it better than this...

1 Corinthians 13
Love
1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

People have layed down their lives for centuries before, during and after the jesus era. It is a great thing and sometimes a stupid thing to lay one's life down for another. Sometimes sacrificing oneself is noble and sometimes stupid and ignorant. jesus died for no reason. Where is he now? If he died for our sins it was in vain because no one cares about it really. Anyone can act greatful but being greatful is limited to a passing thought. How can anyone measure love?

That's not actually a definition of love, it's an example of it.

Do you not realize that humans lay down their lives for friends and loved ones all the time? For that matter, animals do it too; it's instinctive to sacrifice yourself for your children.

Jesus was actually not his name. and he did not have to die for anyone except his crime in breaking the law. The guy went against the law of the land and attempted to take over religion in his little really small area.
For this he was crucified which was a common form of punishment in his time frame. There really was nothing extraordinary about his death.

God's love and mercy far exceed all of His creation , if man was to become aware of that the whole world would be a garden once again.
