It doesn't do it all the time just starts out of the blue, gears won't change properly, or starts bumping into gear so hard feels like car is falling apart. Changed the fuel filter, changed fuel coil changed engine mount. and does anyone know what throttle kickdown means? I was told to drive my van and then do at throttle kickdown while driving under 25 miles an hour. Please help, Thanks

trans fluid is most likely and would cause it for sure. Dodge trannys tend to be picky about fluid level and older Dodge trannys lurch a little anyways.

This is probably related to your transmission shift cable. They should be adjusted so the shift detents in your shifter are aligned properly with the shift points in your transmission. Any qualified mechanic can re-adjust that for you.

Your throttle kickdown is designed to shift the transmission into a lower gear when you step on the throttle. This gives the car better acceleration for passing or climbing steep grades.

To check your kickdown function, drive at a moderate speed (25 - 45) on a street with little or no traffic and then quickly step all the way on the gas pedal. You should hear the engine speed jump up and the transmission should drop into the next lowest gear. If it doesn't do this and bogs instead, your kickdown linkage more than likely needs adjustment. Some cars use engine vacuum or an electrical solenoid instead of mechanical linkage for kickdown.

This is all stuff that is best left to a qualified transmission mechanic (cheaper) or your dealer (more expensive). I've found Aamco to be qualified but way overpriced. You might try starting with Midas instead as their inspections are free and they have good prices, a good warranty and longstanding reputation.
