She is 16 months old and got a hold of some peanuts and ate them. She didn't have any allergic reaction but I don't know if I should now give her peanuts regularly or should I wait until she is three before giving her anymore. Does anyone know?

Wait!! A severe allergic reaction sometimes doesn't take place the first time you try something that you are allergic to. My father is allergic to penicillin, but the first time he took it he didn't have the reaction it was after the 3rd time. A food allergy can be the same way, do you really want to take that risk with your baby?

Peanuts themselves are a choking hazard at her age, so best to stay away from them. But if she didn't have a reaction, then I wouldn't worry about an allergy.

My pediatrician's exact words were "I'm supposed to tell you not to give peanuts or peanut products to any child under the age of 5, but peanut butter is a wonderful thing."

My daughter's nearly 3, and she's had plenty of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pb crackers. She has not had any problems. Now, I used to have a student in my 3-year old class whose 2 older brothers had peanut allergies, and the doctors had said not to give him any peanut products until he was 5, then they'd test him. Does your family have a history of food allergies, such as peanut products?

My daughter has had peanuts many times before, she is almost 4. She only had them in moderation of course. Just watch for any reaction if she doesn't have any I don't see a problem in giving her more. I was more worried about her choking on them then I was an allergic reaction.

You should ease her back into them. As with any kind of food allergy, you can outgrow it. She may have outgrown it, so you should give her small portions of food with peanuts in them or a while, and if she has no allergic reactions then continue to increase the amount of peanut products you give her.

I think it's fine. I would just wait before giving them to her again.

If a child has a lot of peanuts as when they're young, they can become sensitive, and develop allergies. Your daughter just had a little, so she should be fine. She's probably not allergic. :)

Good luck!

We did no longer wait till 2 years, we presented nuts after a million twelve months simply by fact neither my husband or I truly have any nut hypersensitive reactions, nor do any of our close relatives. the two little ones are positive and could have peanuts and tree nuts, they are in simple terms turning 2 years old this week. it truly is thoroughly as much as you. in case you experience greater effective waiting till 2 years you're able to do this and probably could if there's a background of nut or peanut hypersensitive reactions int he relatives. that's a severe hypersensitivity and should no longer be messed around with.

You need to pay attention to the advice of your doctor very carefully! At that age the immune system is stilld developing, and the early introduction of peanuts can mean life long allergies for the child even if she does not react to them right away! Peanut allergies are killers please take this seriously!

Yes. Wait until she's 3. Don't give her peanut butter either. For the same reason.
