I think that your father has alot of unresolved issues. I personally think that he's a hypocrite because from what I know about the Mormon religion, family is priority. How repulsive that he insulted your mother in front of you!!!! My father use to do the same thing after they got divorced, and now I know that in his mind, he was trying to justify why he left the best thing that ever happened to him. How long did you go without speaking to or seeing him? It sounds to me like he lied to the Mormon church about being a good man and he believes the lie himself. I think you should try to be everything he isn't, and learn from his mistakes. That's probably all that he will ever do for you. Be an example of what NOT to be. I hope this helped. Happy New Year.

You do not say how old you are. I take by your wording that you are young. He has his day coming do not worry. If he is out of your life you are better off. I hate to say that, but it sounds as if he is not the best person to be around father or not. Anyone who treats their child like that does not deserve one. What does your mom have to say about this? Surely she is not standing by while all of this is going on. If you are not going to be around the mormons, don't worry about what he told them. He is making you miserable and enjoys it. Sounds to me he is not very much a man, and even worse of a Dad. Be glad he is gone and get on with your life and you will be a better person for doing so. it is a shame that families are like that today, but what can you expect with all the hatred in the hearts of people now a days. I think that you have made a wise decision in one part of your statement. You do however have to give him respect as he did bring you into the world, but you do not have to let him walk all over you. Honor him as a Dad, but use wisdom in dealing with him. It is like this. If I eat something that makes me sick, I am not going to eat it again. Understand? You will be fine, and do not let what people say about you bother you as long as you know what is the truth. Know the old saying, "sticks and stones"?

Your father will not be able to influence anyone who truly believes in the love of Christ that you or your mother are anything negative. Don't sweat it. The LDS church would frown on him or any person for mistreating you or your family. If you and your mother needed aid you could also contact that church for help and they would assist becausde they have love for you, not just because they want to convert you. If your father is threatening to voice bad things about you to the church, maybe you should contact a bishop for the re-assurance that no one would listen. The church is there to help, not harm. Maybe they could help your father too, because it sounds like he needs it. Good luck.
