You will need to buy a new copy of Windows XP from Microsoft. However, you can save money with the upgrade pricing, assuming that you're willing to surrender your license to Windows 98SE.
Once you have the XP disc and key, you can then do an upgrade installation or a clean install (which is probably better).

No, you have to purchase a Windows XP key before you can use it. You cannot "trade in" an older version of Windows for XP.

Upgrade version of XP is from Windows 2000, MS do not support Win98 anymore.
Generally the upgrades are only from one version to the next.
Sorry you will need a full license.
Chances are that you will need to upgrade your hardware, so ask your dealer about OEM version of XP when buying the hardware.
It is cheaper than retail version and is legitimate when sold with hardware.

You mean exchange one for the other? No.
You either have to buy an upgrade for XP
or buy a full retail version of XP. I don't think
there're still upgrades available for 98 users.
Probably wouldn't make a significant price
difference anyway.

you ought to be able to enhance Win98 SE to Win XP homestead. Are you attempting to enhance to Win XP professional ? it is no longer supported. the only way around it is to first improve ninety 8 SE to Win 2000 and then improve to professional. the perfect answer in case you like the two Win ninety 8 and Win XP could be to get some thing like gadget Commander. then you definately can reproduction the Win ninety 8 partition and improve one in each and every of the two partitions.
