At some point with any faith you need to believe in the supernatural and you need to take it purely on faith.
Is it so hard to fathom that some people with good reason just can't make that illogical step?

Have you ever tried to watch a good movie with a Christian? "That's not the grill for a '79 Chevy, that grill didn't come out until '82!" "That's ridiculous, how could a person rewind their life and be in the future and the past at the same time?"

No it is not. But the reason behind this statement is the same as the reason behind my answer to, "Isn't the religious experience a lot like the suspension of disbelief everyone needs to enjoy a good movie?"
There is no need to suspend disbelief simply because the belief itself is a reflection of the individual's internal reality. The same goes for your inability to fathom what you perceive as illogical.

it's not hard to fathom. a lot of people use logic to not believe.
