God's household seems pretty abusive...if he was an earthly father raising earthly children...then wouldn't someone call child protection on him? I mean he burns the children that he created if they turn away from him...and he won't except them for the humans that they are..anyone else have other examples?

I think they are all scared to make the call... you've seen what he does when he gets angry.... he kills EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING on the planet!

If the "burn" that you refer to is hell, you should know that a fiery place of torment is not a Biblical teaching. In fact, God was disgusted with the practice of human sacrifice where humans were "passed through the fire". As for accepting humans as they are, we're all sinful and he is well aware of that and has made provisions (through Christ) to redeem humans from sin. But that doesn't release us from the obligation to try our best to do things according to his standards. We won't always succeed at meeting his requirements, but he knows that already and asks only that we TRY. An example of this might be a parent who tells their young child to clean his room...the parent comes in later and the child is beaming at how clean his room is, but to the parent it may not be clean at all. If you're a good parent, you would commend the child for his efforts. In the future the parent might try a different approach, such as giving the child specifics in cleaning his room...give him guidance. That's what God has done...given us guidance on how to live our lives in accordance with his standards. Interestingly, those standards are mentioned several times as being beneficial, not to God, but to US. And they truly are beneficial guidelines to live by. If followed, they keep us free from sexual diseases, free from the effects of a bad conscience, among many other things. This doesn't seem like an abusive God to me. It seems like a loving parent trying to keep his children from making harmful mistakes. But if we choose a course that alienates us from God, we can't blame him for the consequences we suffer. Example - if my son chooses a life of crime and then gets arrested, is it my fault that he has to suffer the consequences of going to jail, having to pay a fine and attorneys fees, and having a record that will follow him through life? I think not. He would have to suffer the consequences for his own actions.

Dad got help and upped his meds! Check the NT for a kinder, gentler god.

p.s. Cept for the "eternity in hellfire" bit.

Okay you're interpreting the bible the way you see it. Remember, it's a bunch of stories put together a long time ago by man. We have free will, duh.
