why is the screen on my digital camera too dark to see inside the house?

takig pics around the christmas tree, i could only see dark images. the pics came out great, i just couldn't see exactly what i was aiming at.

On some cameras, there is a setting in the menu screen to adjust the brighness of the screen. I would also suggest just using the viewfinder to take pictures as well.
