Anxiety is an unpleasant complex combination of emotions that includes fear, apprehension and worry, and is often accompanied by physical sensations such as palpitations, nausea, chest pain and/or shortness of breath (Wikipedia.com).

Did you have some sort of bad experience with this friend? Maybe one that caused you to stop seeing them? If so, hearing from them after so long might have reminded you of this unpleasant experience which caused you to feel anxious. What was the conversation about? If the person was calling you because they were in trouble or needed advice maybe you are just worried about them.

Congratulations...you're human! You are just going through a series of mixed emotions all at once. If that phone call brought bad news, then its only natural that you have all this feelings. If its was just a casual call, with no big issue, then ask yourself what pushed the anxiety button? Memories perhaps? Serious cases of anxiety is when you can't seem to focus and are always nervous - not calm. This is usually caused by stress and depression. If your anxiety has appeared for no apparent reason and stays on for a few more days, go and see a doctor. A small blue pill called ' activan' may be prescribed. I call it 'the meditation' pill...it helps me R.E.L.A.X

Depends did the person say something that scared you?
Or did they just unload every bad thing that has happened to them in the last few years and it made you sad?
Try some meditation, unless your friend sucked you into their problems, you need to let it all go. Think every happy thought you can dream in your mind. It also helps to take a walk to drain off that excess energy.
Happy New Year!!

Well you didn't get a lot of info about the phone call so it's hard to say. Maybe you're just nervous/excited to have talked to an old friend?
