First gather the following ingredients:

6 Cups of flour
1 Cup of lard
3 Tablespoons of baking powder
1 Tablespoon of salt
2 Cups of currants or raisins
3 ½ Cups of water
You’ll also need a medium sized mixing bowl.

In the bowl, mix the flour and lard together by hand. Then add the baking powder, salt and the currants or raisins. Once this is done, add the water and work the ingredients into a dough. place into a cast iron skillet, turn your element on to about medium high heat, put on a lid, flip in about 20 minutes, bread will be completed in about 15 to 20 minutes, check for flufiness with fork.

this recipe is considered a bannock recipe that is intended to be cooked on a fire, but I have cooked it several times on the stove top.

What kind of bread are you trying to make? The only kind of bread I know of that you can make on the stove is hot water cornbread. They are small round cornmeal-type bread that is fried in shallow cooking oil.

Well you can make flour tortillas in a frying pan over low heat. You could bake a round of dough about 1 inch thick in a heavy frying pan, over very low heat with the lid on. The idea is that you make the inside of the pot a miniature oven. Or you can contrive a steamer for buns--like Chinese dumplings.
