The things going on in Iraq are horribly skewed by the media. This is not a lie, it is the honest truth. The Iraqis are truly a great people, and a beautiful culture, and many of them are thankful for the help we have provided. The looks on their faces when they got to vote for the first time in decades made the mission worth it. Yes, we are fighting a difficult insurgency, but it is a power struggle. Many do not understand the deep resentment between the Shites and the Sunnis, it is something we can possibly not understand. I had 3 friends goto Iraq, one came back earlier than planned, but even he said that it was all worth it. I am not an officer. I am an enlisted soldier, so this is not propaganda, this is simply supporting my fellow soldiers in our fight FOR the Iraqi people.

I was in Iraq in 2004 (Feb 2004 - Feb 2005). I saw that what the negative spin the media puts on the war did not match what is actually going on in country.

I just got back from iraq. No matter what i tell you, people will use it as a tool for their political beliefs. I was hit by an ied and lost hearing, but i had buddies who didn't make it out. I was lucky, and all of the people who use this as a political tool can just leave me alone.

Our experiences ARE shared. Just not with those who weren't there.

PS- Your question is phrased as if the war is over now.
