My Stimpy just love that crinkling sound. She also wants to maintain my "complete" attention.

My cat does that too. I think she wants my attention or she likes to play because when the paper rips and I laugh or yell at her she does it even more or runs away with parts of the paper,it,s all a big game to her I guess.

I sure don't know the answer to that one. Do they want to learn to read???????? I can't read the morning paper without one cat sitting on top of it. It is also hard to read a book as several cats like to get between me and the pages of the book.

I believe the reason for animales doing this is because #1, They like the noise that it gives out, and its like kat nip to them, and #2, they know it will get your attention.
As you know, Animales love attention so when they figure out how to get it from you, They use it to there advantage. Try grabbing a paper when the cat is not around and make alittle noise to the paper and see what happens. Most likly if the cat doesnt come its because she/he is tierd, but if it comes then it knows its gonna get attention and like i said before. Its like cat nip to them

Yes, I can be in the middle of reading a catalog and she'll just plop herself down right on top of it. If i'm on my bed reading a newspaper, she'll walk all over it and lay down.

Every cat I've every had does this. They either want your attention or their just comfortable there!
