There are 3 kinds of grip strength, crushing (like a handshake), pinching (obvious) and supporting (which is crushing, but with endurance).
You can improve crushing grip with the squeeze exercisers you find in sporting goods stores, once you get above a certain level you'll want to graduate to some high-strength version of those (www.ironmind.com)

Pinch gripping can be improved by lifting a pair of barbell plates between your fingers and thumb.

Supporting grip is strenghtened by things like the farmers walk: carry a pair of weighted down buckets around, for as long as you can.

Nope, no trick. Well, the trick is to exercise. They, any athletic store, walmart, etc.) make the little spring exercisers or you can use a tennis ball or racket ball, and just squeeze it. this will build up the muscles of the hand, and give you a really strong grip.

If you mean grasping as in gripping it's really quite simple. Squeezing a tennis ball for reps is a good one. One in each hand squeezing and releasing for as much as you can stand it gonna give you big forearms too. Using dumbbells while your working out is great too, because you have to concentrate on control, stretching your fingers after to keep them limber is important. You can buy squeeze balls too at some sporting goods stores. Before you know it when you shake someones hand your gonna crush their knuckles together.........lol.......and it's a good way to tell that your achieving your goal by watching them wince......lol
