Whenever i drink red wine, even if its only a mouthful i get a dull ache down my left arm about 20 seconds after swallowing it. My sister gets it aswell, so i know im not imagining it. What could cause this please? Thanks.

wine would contain yeast.. and when you drink it.. i presume gas forms in side your stomach.. this gas pushes against your diaphragm whihc has got the same nerve supply as your shoulder... so i suppose it is reffered pain... do not drink that particular wine

It is the Methanol in the colouring.

Stop drinking Red Wine.

Also stop drinking ANYTHING containing Aspartame.

Do a Yahoo search for 'Aspartame' + 'heart attack'

Strange - I also get this when I drink lager, and so does my sister. Only for the first few minutes, though, then it disappears. Always on the left, I wondered if it was something to do with indigestion, with the lager being fizzy, but we don't get it with other fizzy drinks.

Could be the effect of the tannins. Try a variety with low tannins.

It's most probably an allergy. I get red marks too but on my abdomen.
