i have a 2001 mondeo with a ford single-cd/radio fitted and a while ago it just stopped working for no apparent reason. i noticed that the red light, that normally flashes when you remove the security panel, was constantly lit, not flashing. i was told to unplug the unit and wait 5 mins until i plug it back in. this "resets" the unit, and it worked, for about 30mins. while playing a cd the music stopped and the display froze. i couldnt turn the unit off and it stayed on even when i removed the security panel. since then it just wont work. the red light is still constantly lit and no matter how many times i unplug it, it refuses to work. any help would be appreciated.

I drive an '06 E350 van, the CD player not only skipped, but would not eject the CD most of the time. As the van is under warranty, I had the dealer put in a new CD/Radio.
As you are out of warranty (most likely), your best bet is to get a better CD player from a store like best buy or whatever.
The Ford supplied CD players and radios seem to just be junk.
Sorry, but that seems to be the facts.
Replacing with a better product should not cost more than $200 dollars.
