fast walker, and have trouble following anyone, least of all my date, however ive noticed some of my dates seem to want to walk in front of me, others behind me or to the side, and even others to the left or right. far be it from me to complicate something simple, but ive actually found myself stutter stepping because of the confusing body language, and im probably the one with the confusing body language. Should i walk naturally and let her walk wherever the heck she wants to, or is it more natural to let the woman precede the man?

Traditionally, a woman walks next to a man on his right. However, if they are walking through a doorway, a man lets a woman precede him. There is one exception to walking on the right, however, if the man and woman are walking on a sidewalk and the right side is the street side, the man lets her walk on his left away from the curb. By the way, in walking, as in dance, a man must always match the woman's stride.

I hear ya... I too walk fast and have actually been told to stop running!! I AM NOT RUNNING... I simply walk fast and I can not help it if everyone else is in neutral!
As for the dating part, if I were you, I would slow down and walk next to your date. As a woman, if a man walked anywhere but beside me on a date I would have an odd feeling about it and a second date would probably be on hold.
You can also come right out and make it part of the conversation... tell her you walk fast and it is always odd, for you don't know where to go with it. Bringing it out in the open & it will make it almost a fun game of trying to stay at the side of each other.

Gentlemen always walk alongside ladies on the outside of the pavement - to protect them from splashes etc.
Indian females follow their husbands ten paces at the rear - unless when going through mine fields - then it is ten in front....

You should learn to slow down. It is impolite to rush ahead of your companions, social or romantic.
Besides, what's the hurry? Slow down and take time to appreciate the people and things around you. There's no need to rush everywhere...you'll miss a lot by always being in such a frenzy!

Hold her hand as you walk. That should help you pace yourself better. Not to mention the extra added benefits of holding hands.

slown down your walking, it will make everything more enjoyable for everyone. She probably feels put off by you and your fast walking, if you walk slower it is more intimate and you will be able to talk to her more and easier than if she were to be running after you trying to keep up.

I agree with everyone saying hold her hand. There is nothing sweeter than a guy taking your hand in his as you walk. You WILL earn points for that. ;)

If you're in a restraunt, let her precede you .Otherwise if you want to keep her close, hold her hand. ( just don't drag her cave-man style). I am short, my dates are tall, they leave it up to me to keep up.
