In ancient times it was thought that a blood vein ran straight from your heart to your ring finger on your left hand. That is why we customarily use the left hand vs. the right. The correct wayto wear an engagement ring and wedding band together is to first put on your wedding band, and then your engagement ring. By doing it in this order, you're putting the more important of the two closest to your heart, again the vein thing. Happy wedding (I assume) and congratulations!

When I was looking at engagement rings and wedding bands I asked the same question. I was told that the wedding ring goes on first (because you wear it closest to your heart) and the engagement ring goes on next.

My grandmother has always told me that once he puts the engagement ring on your finger it's not supposed to come off. So when you get married the wedding band goes on after the engagement to seal the deal. That plus it looks better that way to me!!!

Wedding ring is first, then engagement ring. I don't think you wear the engagment ring for the ceremony either

the marriage ring is going on first then the engagement ring. in the process the ceremony the engagement ring is on your wonderful ring finger leaving your left ring finger loose. The bride and groom places the marriage band on the left hand while asked to realize this by the guy marrying them. Later in the process the day/night the engagement ring is located on the hoop finger in front of the marriage band. desire this clarifies.
