i find mormonism to be a cult like islam

they are both cults....but then again, I think all religions are cults.

Members of the Mormon church would be kicked out if they practiced polygamy. So no, they don't. Back in the day they did, and many break-offs may still practice, but not the Mormons. When they U.S. made it illegal, and Utah wanted to become a state, they stopped the practice, as it is their belief to follow the laws of the land. As to whether they are a cult, I guess it doesn't matter what anyone believes. Everyone believes their own religion is correct. We should show respect to everyone. If you call believing in Christ and his sacrifice, and believing only that only through Christ can mankind be saved a cult, then maybe they are.

Having been born into the mormon religion (I'm no longer a mormon), I know of no actual mormon men who practice polygamy in the LDS (mormon) church.
However, there are many organizations who branched off and practice polygamy on a daily basis. They are called fundamentalist mormons.
The LDS Church or it's legal name---> The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is not a cult by any meaning of the word. Rather it is a christian religion like very many others in the world today.
I'm a practicing christian. I belong to no particular church organization. Although I don't personally like the Mormon Church, I know from personal experience that the religion is not a CULT by any meaning of the word.

The word cult could be used to describe all religions. Mormons, who are members of the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, do not practice polygamy (although it is a part of the history of the Church). There are religions that consider themselves off shoots of LDS/Mormon that do practice polygamy even today (Warren Jeffs, RDLS Church for example). The LDS Church do not recognise the RDLS as members and any member who practices polygamy is excommunicated from the Church.

You are partially correct on your in one aspect and I totally disagree on the other.
Some Mormons practice Polygamy. Neither belief systems are considered cults by main stream religious scholars.

Well, then, you are using the "Christian" definition of "cult rather than the sociological definition. Christians call anything a "cult" that simply isn't according to their definition of Christianity. This includes Atheism, other forms fo Christianity that they disagree with, such as Jehova's Witness, Catholics, MCC and others, Pagans, aboriginal religions, etc.
So, it's fairly easy to call whomever you wish a Pagan. So much so that the term is basically meaningless.
Some Mormons (Proper nouns ought to be capitalized) may, and some did practice polygamy, just as it is described in the Christian Bible. It is a state law, and not a Biblical one.
There is an admonition from Paul that a preacher should be the "husband of one wife", but nowhere does it say that a man should in all cases have one, and only one wife.

There are people who pratice polygamy that "claim" or are thought as of Mormons, but no LDS member in good standing practices polygamy. If they do, they are excommunicated.

Islam is not a cult. Yes Mormon men practice polygamy only Muslim men are only allowed a maximum of four wives if they can be just and equal to them all but if they fear they can not then they should just have one wife. Mormons think they can have 14 or more wives.

Not all Mormans practice polygamy it is in fact against the main churches laws. Those who do that are part of another group of Mormans.
