"The Jews live according to the Law. After Jesus came we are living under grace."?

For Christians who believe this, why follow the Laws of the Ten Commandments?

Living under grace does not mean we can sin. The Law shows us exactly how we can sin. Anyway, I can't believe you if you tell me that you as a Jew obey the whole Law. Do you have only one fiber in your clothes? Or are there 2 or more? I can say I don't obey that law either. But the ten commandments are the essence of the Law. Since Jews don't obey all the Law (agriculture laws, sacrifice laws, a.s.o.), why should Christians try something that not even the chosen people have been able to do throughout millenia ?

Jesus simply perfected the covenant and allowed the gentiles to be grafted onto the vine of Abraham. The ten commandments still stand as truthful today as they did yesterday and will remain so tomorrow. The things that became obsolete were the usage of animal sacrifice in atonement for sin as Jesus exemplified the perfect and spotless lamb which was the acceptible final blood sacrifice. He also made all foods clean as it is what comes out of the body and mine that are impure , not that which is blessed before entering the body. The jews were also included in this new covenant and told that to continue following their laws was not enough to ensure salvation. They must also accept Christ as the messiah and receive his gift of free salvation. Those who live by the law will be judge according to the law, those who live by the grace of God will be judged by the grace obtained through Jesus.

God the Father gave the Ten Commandments. The rest are icing. The law that is referred to is the Rabbinic law, kosher, etc. IF man were to live according to the teachings of Jesus the Christ, we would have no need for any other laws. Until that day, you best hope people will follow some guidelines. YBIC

Because Jesus said he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. He is the end (meaning goal, purpose, or basis) of the law, but the law still reflects the holiness of God, and we are to live according to that holiness. Now, we have a different understanding of some aspects of the law - for example, the dietary laws and other ceremonial aspects that applied to the theocratic state of Israel. How do we know? Because the New Testament specifically abrogates them - such as Peter's vision that all foods God made are clean, or Paul saying that all days of the week are the same and should all be lived to God's glory (not just the Sabbath).

In other words, we don't attempt to follow the law in order to be saved, but because we WERE saved. Even the Old Testament saints understood this: "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams" (1Samuel 15:22), "Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire..." (Psalm 40:6).

Jesus gave us the two most important laws... Love God, Love Others (paraphrased Matthew 22:36-40). This is the boiled down stepped version of the Ten Commandments. The Commandments deal with actions, Jesus wants more... your heart. Jesus said, "If you love me, you will follow my commands." (John 14:15). Why would you follow the requests of someone you love? Would you ignore the pleas of food from your children at mealtime?

Dear Chazari, it is true that jews do live under the law and that Christians live under grace. but Jesus came not to abolish the Law but so that it would be fufilled, and heres how.

The Bible speaks of sin as transgression of the law (ten Commandments) so every time we have lied, stolen looked with lust, used Gods name in vain or coveted, we have sinned against God and he demands not only that we simply attempt to follow the law, he demands perfection in thought word and deed. he is perfect and holy and will accept nothing less, so who can say we have kept the law in thought word and deed, perfectly to his Holy standards? have you ever lied? stolen? used Gods name in vain? Im certainly guilty of these, and God wont see us as righteous, he will see us as lying thieving blasphemers at heart and our sin has angered him. even if it were required that we keep the law, it is apparent each and every one of us have failed. so Jesus came and lived a perfect life and became the perfect sacrifice for our sins, and when he died, he died so our sins could be forgiven and we could be seen as "Holy and Just" through the eyes of God. Jesus fufilled the Law in that we broke the law and Jesus paid our fine and if we will repent (turn from sin) and trust in him, God will forgive us and grant us everlasting life, not because were good or have kept the law, but because the righteousness of the law was fufilled in jesus so that we might be justified by faith.

We are told that we live under the NEW LAW (New Testament) there are many who do not yet understand this. They believe that they are still to follow the Old Testament (Old Law). Read, study, and obey they commands that are found in the New TEstament and you maqy be among the SaVeD. GOD will judge and we can be ther with HIM! Have a great weekend!

I believe there is 600 and some laws in the New Testement and some of the Ten Commandments is apart of that.

We follow the laws of the 10 Commandments because God gave us to us, not to rule and punish us but to get order in our lives and live better !!! At the end, we even have our conscience to lead us right or wrong in our decisions !!!!

Not sure but i do know one thing is that putting to much beleif in a book than a group of imperfect men had compiled together just to rule the world with sounds like a alot of manipulation to keep people living in fear of what might happen if they dont follow what was published in the book well after 1300 years after the saviors demise.If you read the book close enough and pay attention how much it says you must obey ceasars laws before gods laws.But you draw you conclusion this is purely my opinion.
