I am ex Engineer.
Firstly you have to pass an aptitude test to gain entry to the engineers. You need a minimum intelligence level as the Engineers are the backbone of the Army.
Rather than decide through here as you have only 1 weeks 'work experience' in the army, have you considered the terriers? that is the Territorial Army?
I know of the EOD's near to Southall which are always recruiting, they are Bomb Disposal (my own field).
You must attend a certain amount of weekday evening meetings as well as weekends, and you have either 1 or 2 weeks at training camp.
It should not interfere with a regular job as ALL employers MUST allow you time to attend.
This will give you more experience of Army life without the complete commitment.
Contact your local Army office or Territorial Army office for any details in you area
look at the source site listed for all the info you will need

My experience in the military was great. Made great friends, some of which I still talk to today. The Army, is the branch of service i joined. I would suggest if you are seriously considering joining the military to choose either the Air Force, or Navy. Make sure you pick a job that has a civilian equivilant. Not too many people hire tank gunners. Good luck.

... well firstly im not a soldier or ex soldier, however what i do know is that
*you have to be very disciplined
*wake up early
*work really hard
*(depending on what type of thing you do) you may have to kill people
*(depending on what type of thing you do) you may have to deal with extra gory real life stuff
*you may have to be prepared for a friend to die if that friend works on a battle field
personally i wouldnt join the army for many of the above reasons, and the fact that it requires a hell of a lot of mental power making it tiring. however if it interests you then good luck.

Go to college and join a frat or something and chase some tial. and then get a job because when you start off in the military as enlisted you are at the bottom of the totem-pole and you will be treated like a kid and talked down to like a kid. Dont join.

yeah I'm in the Army now. It's physically easy, the tough part is the amount of bull$hit you have to put up with. And U.S. soldiers for the most part are the biggest a$$holes in America, basically for the most part enlisted soldiers are the some of dumbest scummiest people you could meet. Don't join, go to college, or if you are in college just get a good job.

There is a big difference between enlisted and officers. In pay you get dirt as enlisted. Go to college or be a tradesman.
